A baseline study is a preliminary analysis that we carried out to gather information about the present circumstances, beliefs, and actions of the target population about gender-based violence. Throughout the project cycle, the gathered data would be used as a benchmark against which progress could be assessed and quantified. It gives a clear picture of the existing state of affairs, points out any gaps, and offers insightful information that helps with the creation of suitable interventions and the setting up of indicators to monitor the development of desired results.
The baseline research, which is carried out to create a beginning point for tracking andassessing the effects of an intervention or project, is an essential part of the planning process for monitoring and evaluation. It offers information that is utilised to assess the intervention’s efficacy and aids in identifying the changes brought about by the intervention. It is challenging to determine the precise impact of an intervention in the absence of a baseline study.
